Dr. Champagne does an outstanding job of putting our students first every day. She builds relationships with her students, challenges them to be their best, and makes sure they know she cares about their success both inside and outside of the classroom. She is always willing to go the extra mile to provide opportunities for our students and help them find something they can be successful in. Her passion for teaching and love for our kids is easy to see, and BHS is a better place because of Dr. Champagne! We are extremely proud to have her represent BHS as the Decatur County Teacher of the Year!

📚 Get Ready to Kick off Georgia Reads Week! 💜💛

Reading together is one of the simplest ways to build vocabulary, spark imagination, and create meaningful connections with children. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, educator, community member, or friend—you can be part of building a stronger culture of literacy.

Grab a book, share a story, and help us show that WE CAN READ! 📖🐾

The BHS Staff Salad Bar was a hit! The students in Mrs. Siebels' and Mrs. Dollar's class worked hard to prepare all the delicious toppings, set up the salad bar, and serve our staff during lunch! They got to practice real-world skills like food prep and customer service. The star of the show was Hunter Hall's fresh hydroponically grown lettuce from our student-led agriculture project, Double H Greens! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to support our students and our student led projects!

Our Biology students got to take learning out of the textbook and into the lab! Today, they investigated enzyme activity with a hands-on lab to explore how enzymes function. Students made observations, tested their ideas, collected evidence, and connected what they saw to the role of enzymes in digestion.

Working in groups, biology students rotated through stations focused on the cell theory and cell organelles. At each station, they explored models, examined visuals, discussed their findings, and completed guided notes to build their understanding of how cells are structured and how their organelles work together.
