In accordance with federal and state regulations, the Decatur County School System announces its intention to destroy special education records during the week of July 27 - 31, 2026.
This notice applies to students meeting the following criteria:
▪️2015-2016 graduates
▪️Students born in 2002-2003 who graduated with a diploma/certificate or reached age 22.
▪️Students who turned 22 between June 1, 2015, and June 1, 2016.
To obtain records before destruction, contact the Decatur County Special Education Department
at 229-248-2828, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Positive ID is required.

DECATUR COUNTY SCHOOLS - Child Find Notice
In accordance with IDEA regulations, the Decatur County School System seeks to ensure that all disabled students (ages 3-21) who are in need of special education services within its jurisdiction are identified, located and evaluated. This includes those students that are parentally placed in private or home school. Final identification of students with disabilities and programming for such students occurs only after an appropriate evaluation and determination of eligibility. If the child find process indicates that a student meets Georgia eligibility requirements and needs specialized instruction or supportive services in order to access the general education curriculum, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Individual Service Plan (ISP) may be developed to ensure delivery of services.

Due to the forecasted weather conditions, we have made the decision to reschedule our baseball camp that was originally scheduled for June 22–24. The safety of our campers and staff is our top priority.
The camp has been rescheduled for July 6–8 and will be held at Bainbridge High School from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon each day.
We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause and appreciate your understanding and flexibility. We look forward to seeing all campers in July for a great few days of baseball instruction, skill development, and fun.

We’re excited for students to experience our new Media Hub and STEM spaces at Bainbridge Middle School.
Congratulations to the BassCat teams who fished hard all year to qualify and compete in the Florida Elite Championship on Lake Seminole last week. Also, good luck to our teams competing in the Georgia Bass State Championship today and tomorrow out of Big Jim's on Lake Seminole. It's going to be some hot days, but we hope to see some big fish brought to the scales! #gobasscats
