🏆 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROOKIE ALL-STARS! 🏆
We are beyond thrilled to announce that Team 11214, the Bainbridge High School robotics team the [CY]BEARCATS #1121, have officially been named the Rookie All-Star Award winners for the Galileo Division at the 2026 FIRST Championship in Houston! The World Championship hosts roughly 600 of the top teams from over 3,000+ global competitors. To win this on the Galileo Division means the [CY]BEARCATS were selected as the standout rookie team from a field of dozens of world-class programs.
The judges had some incredible things to say about the team's culture, "This team has succeeded in creating a culture of connection. Full of purple, they exude the core value of FUN, bringing time, grit and work together. They made the judges’ choice easy."
This award isn't just about building a robot; it’s about building a foundation. It recognizes a first-year team that truly "gets it"—exemplifying the mission of FIRST to inspire the next generation of scientists and technologists while fostering a strong, sustainable partnership effort.
From the long hours with their robot to the iconic purple fedoras on and off the field, the grit and passion of these students, mentors, and sponsors have paid off on the world stage.

Pod 6.2 dove deep into earth science today at the Flint River Aquarium! 🐠 Our students got their hands wet—literally—testing water samples from the Flint River and discovering firsthand how scientists monitor aquatic ecosystems. They enjoyed seeing and learning about our aquatic animals while analyzing pH levels and observing aquatic life. These young scientists are learning that every discovery matters. This is STEM in action! 💧🔬
Real learning. Real impact. Real inspiration. 🌟

As a follow-up to our unit on energy transformations, Pod 8.3 headed out for an incredible field experience at the Jim Woodruff Dam. Our 8th graders got an up-close look at the massive hydroelectric components they’ve been studying in class.
The students especially loved watching the local wildlife gathered on the south side of the dam where the water is released! 🦅 Seeing these energy concepts in action at the dam made the science truly "click." We capped off the day with a perfect picnic lunch overlooking Lake Seminole. ☀️🥪

Pod 8.2 would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Mr. Roland Hancock for sponsoring our very first Academic Decathlon. His support was a powerful reminder that when the community shows up for the classroom, the impossible truly becomes possible.
As we prepare for the start of Georgia Milestones testing next week, our students came together to compete in 12 academic stations and 6 fun, trivia-based challenges. This experience was designed to reinforce key skills, boost confidence, and make learning both meaningful and enjoyable ahead of a week that can often feel stressful.
A huge thank you as well to our incredible student volunteers from the BHS Anchor Club, Basketball Cheer team, and Key Club. Their time, energy, and leadership helped make this event a success!
