Future Teachers Build Skills and Confidence Through Bearcat Internship Program
Our ECE III Bearcat Interns — Cassidy Marshburn, Bryce Hatcher, Julie Bocanegra, Miracle Jones, Jaleha Shaw, Kanaziayonia Jackson, and Jessiah Robinson — have officially completed their 15-hour internship in first grade classrooms at West Bainbridge Primary School!
These future teachers have spent the last several weeks learning what it truly means to lead a classroom — from helping teachers with daily routines and small group lessons to guiding students in positive behavior and supporting them as they learn and grow.
“Working with the students made me realize how much I enjoy teaching,” said intern Cassidy Marshburn. “When I see their faces light up after they understand something, it makes me proud and excited about my future in education.”
Miracle Jones shared, “Helping keep the class focused was one of the hardest but most rewarding parts. I learned that if you set clear expectations and stay consistent, students respond better and the classroom runs smoother.”
Under the guidance of BHS CTAE Instructor Tonya Welch, these Bearcat Interns are gaining real-world experience through our Early Childhood Education pathway — a key part of the Teacher Pipeline Initiative that helps prepare high school students for future careers in education.
These students will go on to graduate and become our future paraprofessionals and teachers, continuing their journey of service and leadership to Decatur County and beyond.
Next stop Hutto Elementary School, where they’ll continue their journey toward becoming the next generation of dedicated and passionate educators!
Congratulations, Bearcats ECE Interns! We’re so proud of your hard work and heart for teaching!
